Area 61, 62, and 65 Contests

Toastmasters from all across Lubbock, Clovis, and Portales will come together on Saturday, August 29th, for the Area 61, 62, and 65 speech contests. For the fall season, the contests are Humorous Speech and Evaluation.

Contests will take place in Texas Tech's Escondido Theater, 15th & Akron in Texas Tech's Student Union Building (directions.)

Area 61 & 62 Contests

Contestants and judges should arrive at 12:30 p.m. CST for the briefings. Contests begin at 1 p.m. CST.

Area 65 Contests

The Area 65 Contest briefing will begin at either 2 p.m. CST or the conclusion of the Area 61 and 62 contests, whichever comes later.

Fall 2014 - Area Contest Winners

Area Governors Amber Marsh and Kerry Mobley held the combined Area 61 & 62 contests for Evaluation and Tall Tales on September 20, 2014, at the Rawls College of Business on Texas Tech campus.

Ben Mercado, president of Eloquent Raiders, participated as the Test Speaker for the Evaluation Contest.

The first and second place winners from each contest in each Area will move on to the Division F contest on October 11, 2014.

Toastmasters Visit Rawls College of Business

Toastmasters members in Lubbock gathered together to present a demonstration meeting for the Managerial Communication students at the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business on March 31, 2014.

Members of Eloquent Raiders (the Toastmasters club on Texas Tech campus) hosted the event along with some help from members of the Llano Estacado and South Plains clubs. District 23's Lt. Governor Marketing, Jef Conn, acted as the event's emcee before turning it over to Eloquent Raiders' VP Education, Ben Mercado, to run the meeting at the Toastmaster.

Approximately 177 students attended the event.

Rawls College of Business Demonstration Meeting

Monday night, Toastmasters from around Lubbock converged on the Rawls College of Business for a demonstration meeting with the Business Communication classes.

Past Area 62 Governor (2012-13) Robyne Vaughn worked closely with Texas Tech instructors Dianne Anderson and Grace Noyes to orchestrate the meeting, which has become an every-semester event.  Around 70 students attended the Monday night meeting which included current and past district officers as well as a number of members of the Eloquent Raiders club which meets on Texas Tech's campus in the School of Law.
