Division Winners Head to District Contest

Congratulations to all of our Division F contestants who participated in the Fall 2017 Division F contests in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

Members from across the Division, including Midland, Odessa, Hobbs, Lovington, Clovis, Portales, Andrews and Lubbock, packed the training room at Tyler Technologies to enjoy the speeches and evaluations delivered by our contestants.

The winners of this contest move on to the District 23 Contests at the District 23 Fall Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 27 - 29, 2017.  Find out more about the conference here: www.district23.org/conference-fall-2017/ .

The contest was put on by Division F Director Kim Davis and the Contest Toastmaster Douglas Sanford.

Congratulations to our Fall 2017 Contest Winners!

The Area 61, Area 62, and Area 65 fall contests were held in Lubbock, Texas, this past weekend and contestants from Toastmasters clubs across Lubbock, Clovis, and Portales participated.

The fall contests were Humorous Speech and Evaluation. The first place winners will move on to the Division F contests on October 7th where members from Lubbock, Clovis, Portales, Hobbs, Lovington, Eunice, Midland, Odessa, and Fort Stockton will come together and see which members will represent Division F at the Fall Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Tim Evans Wins District Contest

Tim Evans
Congratulations Tim Evans of the WWJS Toastmasters club for winning the District 23 Toastmasters Evaluation Contest!

Tim is a Lubbock, Texas, resident and a 11 year member of Toastmasters.

The Evaluation contest recognizes the skills of members who provide valuable feedback to a speaker about the speech they have just given.

Tim also won the District 44 Evaluation Contest in the Fall of 2006.

Lubbock Toastmaster Wins Division F Evaluation Contest

Tim Evans of the WWJS Toastmasters club won the Division F Evaluation contest on Saturday, September 12, 2015, in Lubbock, Texas.

Tim has been a member of Toastmasters for over 10 years and won the District 44 Evaluation contest in 2006.

Division F Contest - Location Moved to Tyler Technologies

The Division F Contests for the fall of 2015 have been moved to a new location.

The date remains the same - Saturday, September 12th - but the time has been moved up slightly and the contest will now run from 11:00am to 1pm. The briefings begin at 11:00am and the contest starts at 11:30am. All judges and contestants need to arrive at 11:00am.

The location will be Tyler Technologies at 5519 53rd Street, Lubbock, TX (location details and map.)

Stacy Cain Wins District Competition

Distinguished Toastmaster Stacy Cain from Lubbock's Llano Estacado Toastmasters Club won the District 23 Speech Evaluation contest on Friday, October 24, 2014.

After being selected to represent her club, along with Taryn Colvin, another Llano member, Stacy went on to place second in the Area 61 Speech Evaluation Contest behind Articulate Toastmasters member Angelia Heare. At the Division F contest, Stacy won and moved forward to the District 23 contest where she faced off against five other competitors from all across the Oklahoma Panhandle, Western Texas, and New Mexico. After a round of six evaluations, Stacy emerged as the winner and brought the trophy back to Lubbock.

Stacy is a member of two clubs, Llano Estacado and South Plains Toastmasters. She also participates in many Toastmasters events around Lubbock such as the recent Rawls College of Business demonstration meeting.

Fall 2014 - Area Contest Winners

Area Governors Amber Marsh and Kerry Mobley held the combined Area 61 & 62 contests for Evaluation and Tall Tales on September 20, 2014, at the Rawls College of Business on Texas Tech campus.

Ben Mercado, president of Eloquent Raiders, participated as the Test Speaker for the Evaluation Contest.

The first and second place winners from each contest in each Area will move on to the Division F contest on October 11, 2014.

Area 61/62 Contests - Fall 2014

The combined Area 61 & Area 62 contests for Tall Tales & Evaluation will take place on September 20, 2014, in Room 103 of the Rawls College of Business.

Contestant and judges briefings will being at 9:30am with the contests to run from 10:00am to noon.

Lubbock Pro Club Hosts Awards Ceremony

During it's November 16th meeting, the Lubbock Pro Club hosted a special awards ceremony honoring Lubbock Toastmasters members who received awards during and leading up to the Fall 2013 Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Immediate Past District Governor TK O'Geary recognized the following Lubbock Toastmasters:

  • Robert Barnhill - Treasurer of the Half Year (January to June, 2013)
  • Jef Conn, Robyne Vaughn, Steve Hightower, Robert Barhnill, Jana Barnhill, John Leazar, and Linda Leazar - Keys to the District for Exemplary Service to District 23
  • Robyne Vaughn - Area Governor of the Year for 2012-2013

Tim Evans Advances to District Evaluation Contest

Representing the WWJS Toastmasters club in Lubbock, Texas, Tim Evans won the Division F Evaluation contest on Saturday, October 5, 2013.  

Tim, also a member of the Downtown Toastmasters club in Lubbock, won the District 44 Evaluation contest in Fall 2006 when Lubbock was a part of District 44.  Tim is now going for his second District trophy.

Fall 2013 Humorous, Evaluation Divison F Contests

The Fall 2013 Division F contests for the Humorous Speech and Evaluation contests will be in Lubbock on Saturday, October 5th, in the Lanier Auditorium of the Texas Tech School of Law.

Contestants from Clovis to Ft. Stockton and Lubbock to Roswell will converge in Lubbock to determine who will advance to the District 23 contest in Santa Fe, NM, on October 18 and 19, 2013.

The contest begins at 1pm (central time), but contestants and judges should arrive by 12:30pm for the briefings.

Area 61/62 Humorous and Evaluation Contest Results

The Texas Tech School of Law, home to the Eloquent Raiders club, hosted the Area 61 & 62 Humorous Speech and Evaluation contests this morning.

Area Governors Ernee Kozyreff and Uwe Beltz put the contest together and recruited Jef Conn, our district's Lieutenant Governor Marketing, to take the role of Toastmaster.  Additionally, Ernee covered the chief judge duties while Uwe embraced the role of test speaker for the Evaluation contest.

The first and second place finishers will advance to the Division F contest on Saturday, October 5th, at the Texas Tech School of Law.
